I have your same problem. I have my iphone for more then 4 months now, and suddenly last saturday it started detecting any wifi networks. I did not change anything. I restored my iphone, and think i tried everuthing you said before. Could you make your phone work again? Any more ideas?? My brother had intermittent connection problems and was able to solve them by placing the phone in airplane mode for an hour. I checked the apple web site and discovered there are many people with this problem, and that happened within this week.
